Galion High School Performing Arts returning to the stage after two-year hiatus

GALION — The Galion High School Performing Arts Department will return to the Galion Community Theatre stage for in-person performances after a two-year absence on Oct. 16-17.

“The Alibis” is a comedy murder mystery about a detective called to a house where a murder was reported. There are five suspects, and they all have great alibis. Or do they? And a good mystery always has a surprise ending.

“The students are beyond excited to return to a live, in-person theatre production,” Galion High School teacher and director Cheri Laughbaum said. “All shows at Galion High School are run by students. Actors, lighting, sound, backstage, and the assistant directors are all current high school students, and they all have worked hard to prepare for this performance.”

Showtimes are 2:00 p.m. Oct. 16 and Oct. 17. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at the Galion Community Theatre, 127 Harding Way West, prior to each performance. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. on both performance days.

“I am proud of Mrs. Laughbaum and all the students involved in this production for their patience and perseverance,” Superintendent Jennifer Allerding said. “Our Performing Arts Department does an outstanding job preparing our students for their performances. I know this show will be another quality event, and I hope our community will support the students as they make their return to the stage after a two-year absence.”

The Galion Community Theatre requires all audience members to wear a mask unless drinking and/or eating, regardless of vaccination status. Cast and crew members will be masked when not on stage.

Please contact Cheri Laughbaum at 419-468-6500 or email [email protected] for more information about this year’s production.
