After churning out five state qualifiers a year ago, the Galion boys track team is hoping to build on its success with the return of an experienced and talented core.

Galion splits doubleheader with Wynford


Galion’s Carson Frankhouse scored the winning run for the Tigers in a 3-2 victory over Wynford in game one of a doubleheader Saturday at Heise Park. In game two, the Royals handed the Tigers (5-1, 2-0) their first loss of the season by a score of 7-5.

Galion competes in Bucyrus Elks Invite


The Galion varsity boys and girls track teams both placed third in the the Bucyrus Elks Track Invitational held Saturday. On the boys side, the Tigers finished with 100.5 points, behind Oak Harbor (135) and Waynedale. On the girls side, the Tigers totaled 88 points, finishing behind Oak Harbor (126) and Waynedale (93).

The Galion varsity softball team opened the season at home Tuesday against Northmor. Despite hanging tough against the visitors, the Tigers lost the game by a score of 10-7.

Day recaps Buckeyes’ third spring practice


With spring break now in the rearview mirror, Ohio State returned to the practice field on Tuesday for its third practice of the spring and the first with players in pads. Following the practice, head coach Ryan Day met with the media to recap the morning and speak for the first time on the departure of running backs coach Tony Alford to archrival Michigan last week.
