RICHLAND COUNTY — The Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District’s (MWCD) Pleasant Hill Lake Park is excited to unveil ten new deluxe log cabins that will open to guests on Friday, June 19, 2020. The new cabins are part of a Master Plan the MWCD initiated in 2012 and are designed to replace 1950s-era cabins. Unlike their predecessors, the modern log cabins at Pleasant Hill Lake will be open for guests to enjoy year-round. The brand-new log cabins offer rustic, yet modern accommodations within a beautiful forested area of the park. These deluxe log cabins feature warm fireplaces and relaxing outdoor hot tubs all of which makes for a great escape to the lake away from the hectic pace of life for a couple or family. All of the log cabins are only a short distance from the lake, trails, and swim beach area.

There are two cabin types for guests to choose from, accommodating either 6 or 8 guests. All of the deluxe cabins offer a fully equipped kitchen, 50=inch flat screen TV, Wi-Fi, two full bathrooms, and central air/ heat, in addition to the gas fireplace and outdoor hot tub. The larger of the two cabins also features laundry and an additional pull-out sleeper sofa. Week-long reservations are required in-season, June through August, and a two-night minimum is required during the off-season, September through May. Although Pleasant Hill Cabins have always been cleaned following high standards of care, due to COVID-19, additional cleaning will be implemented between reservations as recommended by the CDC.

Pleasant Hill Lake offers outdoor recreation opportunities for the entire family, all summer long. The 850-acre, unlimited horsepower lake has a sandy swim beach, miles of hiking trails, guided kayak programs, and activities and events planned throughout the summer. Take advantage of the lake with boat rentals at the full-service marina located in the park. The campground offers sites ranging from primitive to full-hook-up with 50 amp electric, water/sewer connections. To make a reservation for the cabins, or campsites visit www.mwcd.org.

The MWCD, a political subdivision of the state, was organized in 1933 to develop and implement a plan to reduce flooding and conserve water for beneficial public uses in the Muskingum River Watershed, the largest wholly contained watershed in Ohio. Since their construction, the 16 reservoirs and dams in the MWCD region have been credited for saving over $7 billion worth of potential property damage from flooding, according to the federal government, as well as providing popular recreational opportunities that bolster the region’s economy. A significant portion of the reservoirs are managed by the MWCD and the dams are managed for flood-risk management by the federal U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE).
