LEXINGTON — Honda Racing will host activities for all race fans during the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio, July 28-30, with the return of the annual #CampingWithHonda initiative. Following the success of last year’s “Christmas in July” theme, this year Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course will combine the thrill of racing with “galactic”-themed entertainment.

For a little friendly competition off the track, there will be a tent and motor home decorating contest for guests camping at Mid-Ohio during the event weekend. All participants vying for the best-decorated tent camping site, or motor home spot, will receive a Honda Indy 200 gift. Grand prize winners will enjoy a pace car ride around the 2.258-mile, 15-turn Mid-Ohio circuit, while runners-up receive great Honda camping gear. Participants are encouraged to post on social media with the hashtag #CampingWithHonda, and share their photos and comments.

This year’s theme will be “May the G-Forces Be with You”, and participants are encouraged to decorate in a style celebrating their support of particular drivers or general love of racing. A “special galatic guest” will select the preliminary finalists during Saturday’s IndyCar qualifying session, followed by Graham Rahal, the local fan favorite and Honda Racing Verizon IndyCar Series driver, visiting the sites Saturday after qualifying to choose the winners.

Available to all race fans attending the Honda Indy 200, a community bonfire and s’mores happens on Saturday night, July 29, 8 p.m.-10 p.m., with Columbus band “MidLife Crisis” returning for a second year to provide live music. On Saturday and Sunday, there will be giveaways and “galatic”-themed characters on site to mingle with race fans.

The Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio will feature 12 different races from five series, including weekend headliner the Verizon IndyCar Series; the Mazda Road to Indy development ladder with Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires, Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires and Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship; and the Pirelli World Challenge Championships GT and GTS classes adding some sports car action.

A Weekend General Admission ticket for $75 is required in order to purchase a tent camping or motor home spot. Single-day general admission for Friday or Saturday is $40, and Sunday general admission is $55. Children 12 and under always receive free general admission at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course when accompanied by a ticketed adult. Garage paddock access is $30.
