GALION — Galion City Schools officials hope new traffic patterns in and about the parking lots around the Galion City Schools campus will alleviate some of the congestion of recent years.
When school lets out daily, vehicles in line to pick up students or drop off clothing for practice or pick up books and backpacks before students head off to athletic practice, often stretch around the building, leading to a lot of traffic congestion, some long wait times, and probably some high blood pressure.
These traffic pattern changes are effective immediately, meaning, they’re already in place.
1. Hesby Drive north, from the south edge of the east high school parking lot to the north side of the same parking lot, is now a one-way street.
2. The main street that runs east and west in front of the high school is now a two-way street, west from Portland Way North to Hesby Drive. All traffic west of Hesby Drive is one way.
3. A continuous right turn has been installed on the southwest parking lot for right turns onto Hesby Drive south.
