Pioneer Preschool Program earns five-star rating

The state of Ohio has awarded the Pioneer Preschool Program with a 5-Star Rating under the Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) System. The award was given for meeting the quality standards established by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and the Ohio Department of Education. Step Up To Quality is a Five-Star Tiered Quality Rating and Improvement System created to recognize and promote early learning and development programs that meet quality standards over and above the health and safety licensing requirements. The goal is to provide a single definition of quality that is measurable, easy to understand, and provides the flexibility necessary for early learning and development programs to achieve the highest levels of quality.

As part of the requirements of the SUTQ System, Pioneer’s Preschool staff conducted social and emotional screenings of the children as well as a developmental screenings at no cost to the child’s family. In addition, SUTQ required Preschool staff to meet with parents to develop individual goals for each child that the teacher and parent worked on and assessed throughout the school year. The Preschool also conducted Hearing, Vision, Dental, and Height and Weight screenings of the children.
