GALION — Is the American Legion having fish fries this year?

Yes. The season opener for this fish fry season at Galion American Legion Scarbrough Post 243 is Friday, Sept. 27. Serving times are 5-7 p.m. This is a public event and all are welcome. Also, it will be a great way to start to your Friday night before heading to the Galion Oktoberfest.

“These fish frys have been going on so long they may be a tradition for many,” said post commander Mike Mateer. “All-you-can-eat fish dinners, as well as chicken wing and shrimp dinners are on the menu. All come with french fries and your choice of cole slaw or our warm, chunky applesauce. You can eat in or carry out your orders.”

The fall fish fry schedule runs every other Friday through Nov. 29. The winter/spring season will pick back up in January. Meals are $9, with child portions at $4.50. The American Legion is located at 118 S. Market St. The banquet hall side is open to the public.

This is not the only public event at Scarbrough Post 243. Each Wednesday night, “The Daily Grub” opens with rotating dinner menu from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. This week’s menu includes stuffed pork chops. Eat in the banquet room or get carry out for the family. Also, each Thursday night American Legion Bingo is open to the public. Thousands of dollars in winnings are paid out each week.

For more information on any of these vents, call the Legion at 419-468-1208.
