GALION — Four Galion High School volleyball players have received postseason recognition for their performances on the court during the 2021 season.
The Lady Tigers were honored in the voting by coaches in the Mid Ohio Athletic Conference and District 6 Division II.
Sophomore outside hitter Ashley Dyer was voted second-team All-District 6 and first-team All-MOAC. Dyer finished third in the MOAC in total kills with 307 and compiled a .245 hitting percentage. She had 331 digs, good for sixth in the conference. She recorded 44 total blocks, good for eighth in the MOAC. Dyer had 25 assists.
Senior libero Ady Monk was voted third-team All-District 6 and first-team All-MOAC. Monk led the MOAC with 469 digs. She finished with 49 service aces, good for third in the MOAC. She recorded 17 assists.
Junior setter Ella Payne received honorable mention in both the District 6 and MOAC voting. Payne finished second in the MOAC with 711 assists, averaging 8.6 assists per set. She recorded 307 digs, seventh-best total in the MOAC. She finished with 19 total blocks. Payne had 31 service aces.
Freshman middle hitter Jillian Capretta received honorable mention in the District 6 voting and was voted second-team All-MOAC. Capretta finished with 124 kills and a .261 hitting percentage. She finished fourth in the MOAC with 58 total blocks.
Galion finished the season with a 15-8 overall record and placed third in the MOAC with 10-4 mark. The Lady Tigers reached the Division II sectional finals before bowing out of the postseason tournament.
