Ralph, Murphy win Chad Wheeler event

UPPER SANDUSKY — Matthew Ralph, of Buckeye Valley, and Mary Murphy, of Pleasant, excelled to win the Chad A. Wheeler “Best of the Best” titles at the Heart of Ohio Junior Golf Association final tournament for winners and runners-up of the season’s series at the Lincoln Hills Golf Club on Tuesday, July 25.

Divisions 13-18 boys and girls 13-18 stepped up to compete within their group to win the two top-honorary plaques to be presented at the Year-End Appreciation Banquet at Kings Mill.

Ralph, who shot 40-40-80, and Ethan Krebs, who shot 39-41-80, of Big Walnut, battled the 18-hole par 72 course tying at 80 to lead. This was followed by a playoff won by Ralph, who nabbed an eagle on the first hole. Krebs then moved to second, while Steven Street, of Mt. Gilead, picked up third at 84.

Kaden Ottley, of Olentangy, and Dylan Moore, of Pleasant, shared fourth at 85, and Dawson Hall, of Pleasant, was next at 89.

Murphy captured the girls title at 44-39-83, securing her season’s crown, followed by Rayma Smith, of Harding, at 101, and Anna Songer, of Pleasant, at 116.
