BUCYRUS- Listed below are for this year’s Bratwurst Festival Queen candidates. The Queen’s Scholarship Pageant will be August 18th at 8 p.m. immediately following the parade. Community members are asked to attend as everyone will find out who will be representing the festival and for the crowning’s of the Princess and Jr. Princess Courts.
Contestant Number 1, Abbigail Martin
Abbigail is the daughter of Todd and Heather Martin. She is the youngest sibling of Clayton and Broderick Martin. This fall, Abbigail will be a senior at Colonel Crawford High School and participates in College Credit Plus courses through NC State College. In school, Abby participates in several organizations and clubs including student council, Young Life, LEO Club, National Honor Society, Swim, and Volleyball. She is also a leadership conference ambassador for her school. She is a member of Bucyrus First Church of Nazarene. She partakes in volunteer opportunities in Young Life and LEO club. Right now, Abbigail is undecided in her future plans but is exploring options. She would like to attend college but says “Wherever the Lord leads me is where I’ll go.”
Abbigail has many activities that she finds interesting but some of her favorites include drawing because it allows her to be creative, painting because it lets show her ideas in a different medium, and swimming because it allows her to feel at home and at peace. Her favorite place she has traveled is Panama City Beach, Florida because she feels calm and happy at the beach, the water is warm, loves the sand, and it is a beautiful place to be.
Abby believes the qualities essential for a Queen and her court is being compassionate, kind, confident, charismatic, friendly, patient, humble, is not afraid of public speaking, and is a leader. Abbigail would like to become the Bratwurst Festival Queen because it has been her dream since she was a little girl. She loves the city of Bucyrus and wants to have the chance to represent the city through the festival. The Bratwurst Festival has brought Abby so much happiness and respect towards Bucyrus itself. She remembers looking up to the queens as a little girl and would love to be a role model for other little girls. She would love the chance to make connections and friendships with others while also sharing about how great the festival is. She believes royalty is just one of the many amazing opportunities to show her love to the city she was born and raised in.
Contestant Number 2, Hannah Feldman
Hannah is the daughter of Chad and Anny Gebhardt. She is a sibling of Brooklyn, Zoltan, Alison, and Declan. Hannah is a recent graduate of Wynford High School and participated in football and basketball cheerleading, track, FFA, Young Life, Interact club, and musicals. She is a member of St. Johns Baseline UCC. She volunteers as a 4-H camp counselor. This fall, Hannah will be attending Defiance College to major in business and minor in entrepreneurship. After college, she would like to attend cosmetology school to get her license and open her own hair salon and coffee shop.
Some of Hannah’s favorite hobbies include photography, baking, and cosmetology because each come natural to her and are very relaxing. Her favorite place she has traveled is Universal Studios, Florida because it was for being named a UCA All American Cheerleader, and she was able to meet so many people and spend time with her mom.
Hannah believes the qualities essential for a Queen and her court is being a good public speaker, is a natural born leader, have a love for little kids, and shows hard work. Hannah would like to become the Bratwurst Festival Queen because it has been a dream of hers since she was little. It became a tradition to watch the Queens contest every year with her family. Growing up and knowing that she has German heritage made her want to run in the pageant even more. Being the Bratwurst festival Queen would give Hannah the chance to travel Ohio representing a festival
that she has grown up loving with her whole heart, meet new people, and share more with people about the Bratwurst capital of America and see one of the best festivals. Being the Queen would allow Hannah to talk to more people and continue to grow as a young woman in our community. Overall, Hannah see’s becoming the Bratwurst Festival Queen as a dream come true.
Contestant Number 3, Emily Goldfuss
Emily is the daughter of Ted and Lisa Goldfuss. She is the middle sibling of Tyler and Noah Goldfuss. In the fall, Emily will be a junior at Wynford High School and participates in student council. She is a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Upper Sandusky and participates in several activities and organizations such as being an 8-year member of Nevada Bobcats 4-H club, where she serves as the club treasurer, is a Wyandot County Camp Counselor, and is a Carteens presenter. She is an assistant at Simple Gifts Ballet and takes pointe lessons at Simple Gifts Dance and Douce Dance Studio’s. In the future, Emily is looking forward to attending college to pursue a degree in nursing.
Emily loves to participate in her many volunteer opportunities but enjoys hobbies such as ballet because it gives her strength and flexibility, art because it allows her to have a creative outlet, and baking because there is nothing like the smell of fresh baked bread. Her favorite place she has traveled is Maine because She enjoyed being able to eat fresh caught lobster.
Emily believes the qualities essential for a Queen and her court are being kind, outgoing, confident, honest, dependable, and graceful. Emily would like to become the 2022 Bratwurst Festival Queen because she would love to have the opportunity to represent our festival and community and travel the state of Ohio. She enjoyed her reign as the 2nd Runner-up Princess from 2019-2021 but travel was limited due to the pandemic. Emily looks forward to meeting other royalty, making lifelong friends, and creating memories while being a member on the court. She would be honored to represent our festival and become more involved in our community.
