NORTH ROBINSON — The area will send a handful of athletes to Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium to compete in the state meet this week. The State Tournament is held June 3-4 in Columbus.
Colonel Crawford Lady Eagles competed at the Division III Region 10 meet in Port Clinton. The Lady Eagles were regional champs with a score of 84 points.
Katie Ruffener is going to participate at state in the 100-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles, 300-meter hurdles, and long jump. The senior was the regional champ in the 100-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles. Ruffener was able to grab runner-up in the 100-meter dash and was third place in the long jump.
Liv Krassow and Niyah Shipman were one and two in the high jump, both will represent the Lady Eagles at state.
Julia Feik was runner-up in the shot put with a throw of 39-00.25. Gabby Roston leaped to a third-place finish in the pole vault at 11-00, which was good enough to advance. Corin Feik finished third in the discus event with a throw of 122-00.
Lady Eagles 4×400 meter relay team made up of Mira Holt, Reagan Ritzhaupt, Rylee Ritzhaupt and Gabby Roston punched their ticket to state. The relay team finished fourth at regionals.
On the boy’s side, the 4×100 meter relay team stood out with a first-place victory. The Eagles competed in the Division III Region 11 events at Chillicothe.
Valentine jumped 20-10, which ended up being fourth place, good enough for a shot at state. Trevor Vogt finished fifth in both the 110-meter hurdles and 300 hurdles.
Galion Tigers
Galion had a great time at Lexington, the host site for Division II regionals. Many athletes were able to set a personal record in their given events.
Zaynah Tate is the lone athlete moving onto state with a fourth-place finish in the 800-meter run. Raygann Campbell gave a great effort in the 3200-meter run, finishing sixth place.
Senior Andy Sparks finished up his high school track career with a sixth-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles. Senior Kyle Foust finished seventh in the high jump by clearing six feet three inches.
