Huck Finnegan & Leah Blay March 2022 Students of the Month at Pioneer

SHELBY — Huck Finnegan (Shelby) is enrolled in the Carpentry program at Pioneer. He was nominated by his Carpentry instructor, Justin Tuttle. Huck is a junior from Shelby High School and is the son of Tara and John Finnegan.

Huck is involved in Cross Country, Indoor Track, Outdoor Track, and FFA at SHS. He competes in SkillsUSA for Pioneer. Volunteering around Shelby, Huck helps with Stand 4 Shelby, Global Impact Day and does trash pick-up. After graduation Huck hopes to compete in running while attending college and get a degree that will help him succeed as a carpenter.

Leah is enrolled in the Power Equipment program at Pioneer. She was nominated by her Power Equipment instructor, Rick Harvey. She is a junior from Ontario High School and is the daughter of Joanne Humphrey and Daniel Blay.

Leah is involved with the National Technical Honor Society at Pioneer. She plays the tuba in the Ontario Marching Band and is a member of the National Honor Society at Ontario. Leah is active in the High School Bigs program at Friendly House through Mid-Ohio Youth Mentoring. In her free time, she trains and shows horses having won a World Championship, Reserve World Championship, and several National Championships. After graduating, Leah intends to earn a degree in Equine Science and management. Her hopes are to train and manage an equine facility.
