Jared Mansfield Chapter holds September meetng

BELLVILLE — Jared Mansfield Chapter, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, convened virtually via Zoom on Sept. 11 2020.

Regent Joyce Vanatter led the opening ritual. Pat Jennings, chaplain, gave the opening prayer. Pat James-Hasser led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America and Teresa Boice led The American Creed. Regent Vanatter welcomed members and guests.

Jared Mansfield member Rev. Robin McCullough-Bade presented “How to Preserve Your Family Stories”. Robin comes from a family of storytellers, including her late mother long-time DAR member and history teacher Lois McCullough. Robin now lives in Louisiana, but grew up in Mansfield. Her Ohio roots are deep as both sets of parents are descendants of First Families of Ohio. Robin shared insights gained from recording her mother on location throughout Richland County as well as preparations to portray her great-grandmother Ellen Lash Robinson at the annual Bellville Cemetery Walk on Saturday, September 12.

DAR members were recognized for years of membership and certificates will be distributed to: Ruby Bonecutter 30 years; Janet Grogoza 25 years; Marijan Grogoza & Ruth Pohl 20 years; Pat Bender 15 years; Teresa Boice, Jean Steiner, Joyce Long and Pat Starr 10 years

The group’s 2020-2021 chapter yearbooks have been printed and are ready for distribution.

Constitution Chair Joyce Long announce said the chapter has received three proclamations and would have displays at five area libraries to celebrate Constitution Week Sept 17-21

The next DAR meeting will be held Friday, Oct 2. Eric Ebinger will present the program “Author/US Presidents/Ohio History.”

The DAR is a women’s service organization whose members can trace their lineage to an individual who contributed to securing American independence during the Revolutionary War. Any woman 18 years or older who can prove lineal descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence is eligible to join. Contact the Chapter Regent Joyce Vanatter at 941-224-4888.
