Sunday evening crash causes power outage in part of Galion

GALION — A crash on Parson Street Sunday evening caused a power outage in part of the city.

According to Galion Police Chief Brian Saterfield, the crash occurred around 9 p.m. when a boy, 16, lost control of the car he was driving on Parson Street between Market and Union streets, snapping off a power pole.

“Power was out in the southwest portion of town,” said Saterfield.

Saterfield said the power was knocked out at 9:05 p.m. and affected residents in the southwest portion of town, including Union Street to the Municipal Building on the south side of Harding Way East.

According to Matt Echelberry, communications director for the city, the Galion Line Department was on the scene swiftly and power was back on by 2:30 a.m.

Saterfield said the crash is still under investigation and the driver may be cited. No injuries were reported.
