Boating Safety/Beginner Canoeing
Canoeing is a great way to get out and enjoy nature. And safety is first and foremost. This program offered by the Crawford Park District on Oct. 12 at 5:30 p.m. at Pines Reservoir in Bucyrus will begin with a boating safety lesson, followed by a canoe float around the Pines Reservoir. Meet in the Stetzer Road parking lot. Register by Oct. 11 at 419-683-9000. The program is funded through a grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Watercraft.
Homeschool in Nature: Habitats
The next class in the Homeschool series offered by the Crawford Park District, is Thursday, Oct. 13 at 9 and 10:30 a.m. at Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 Ohio 598. The program will be about animal habitats. There are certain requirements to be an ideal location for the animals. How many can we identify in Lowe-Volk Park? Children ages 5-8 will meet from 9-10 a.m. and children ages 9-12 will meet from 10:30-11:30 am. Sessions will be limited to 20 per age group. Halloween Family Fun Night
The Crawford Park District invites families to come to Lowe-Volk Park on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 7-9 p.m. and celebrate a night of fall fun! Dress in your Halloween costume or just come to enjoy the activities. There will be a bonfire, face painting, nature art, wagon rides, and a treat bag for kids. Bring a flashlight and go on a guided night hike in the woods. Choose between the spooky-hike and the night-time woods hike. Bring the whole family! Call 419-683-9000 for information.
Wild Wednesdays
Come to the Nature Center in Lowe-Volk Park on Oct. 9 at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and enjoy an hour of nature exploration with Crawford Park District Naturalist, Josh Dyer! Program topics will vary and may include a story, short hike, craft, or a visit from an animal. For pre-schoolers and their parents. Come dressed for the weather. Morning and afternoon programs will be similar, just choose the time that best fits your schedule. Call 419-683-9000 for information.
National Reptile Awareness Day
How much do you know about reptiles? October 21 is National Reptile Awareness Day. Join Crawford Park District Naturalist, Lisa Bogard, in the Nature Center at Lowe-Volk Park at 5 p.m. to meet some of our reptiles and learn some intriguing insights about these cold-blooded critters.
