Don’t Target Our Daughters Day

MANSFIELD — Target Department Stores announced this past April that its bathroom policy now permits biological men, who say that they identify as women, to use Target’s women’s restrooms and fitting rooms. Some people contend that this policy is illegal, illogical, and downright dangerous to women and girls. Locally there is the “Don’t Target Our Daughters Day” Protest planned to be held this Saturday, June 4th, at the Target Store on Walker Lake Road.

Since the Target Stores’ pronouncement, there has been an outcry from a number of Americans. In fact, the American Family Association led an online boycott that to date has garnered 1.3 million signatures of people pledging to no longer shop at Target. The AFA boycott statement actually reads, “Target’s store policy endangers women and children by allowing men to frequent women’s facilities (bathrooms and even fitting rooms). Until Target makes the safety of women and children a priority, I will shop elsewhere.” Anyone can view and sign the pledge at

Local protest coordinator Greg Jevnikar said, “Though Target will not admit it publically, their business and stock price has been hurt by this foolish policy. It will be interesting to see if the Brian Cornell retains his position as C.EO. Target’s annual stockholders’ meeting happens to be next Wednesday, June 8th in Costa Masa, California.

Janet Porter, who lost a contentious primary election to incumbent Larry Obhof for the Ohio Senate, and other national leaders plan protests at various Target Stores around the country. A local protest is planned from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday, June 4, at the local Target Store at 2205 Walker Lake Rd, Mansfield, according to local protest coordinator Greg Jevnikar.

“What Target has done with its questionable bathroom policy, as well as what the Obama Administration recently dictated that all government schools now must also allow boys to use girls restrooms and locker rooms, by just identifying as a girl, violate all commonsense, ethics and morality. The Obama edict has even threatened school districts with possible funding loss for noncompliance. Both of these two actions are absolutely unconscionable,” said Jevnikar.

He continued, “It makes women and girls vulnerable to sexual assault by predators, voyeurs, exposing them to perverts, subject to embarrassment and to loss of privacy. So-called “transgendered” persons make up a minuscule half of one percent of the population, if that. Changing policy for public bathrooms and schools is to accommodate this questionable group is beyond reason.

“Everyone is invited to come for all or part of the time of the protest between 10 and 2 this Saturday. Bring a sign and let Target know that you’ll shop elsewhere until they change its ludicrous and unsafe policy.”

Leaders from across the country will be participating in “Don’t Target Our Daughters Day” protests.

“We will be warning Target shoppers that women and children have become a target,” said Janet (Folger) Porter, President of Faith2Action. Porter’s recent WND column documents incidents of registered sex offenders violating women, and filming little girls changing clothes since Target’s invitation to men to enter women’s private spaces.

“Target’s $10 Billion drop in stock value and the American Family Association ‘Boycott Target pledge’ of 1.25 million former Target shoppers isn’t a coincidence—and has nothing to do with the weather,” stated Porter, referring to Target CEO Brian Cornell’s claim that the drop is due to “unfavorable weather trends in the Northeast.”

“Do the math,” said Porter. “Compare AFA’s 1.25 million who are boycotting Target, to the homosexual lobby’s 25,000 who think men belong in ladies fitting rooms. That’s 1.225,000 more that want women and children to be safe from predators.”

“Target stock holders need to understand their dangerous policy will cost them even more if they don’t reverse it at their shareholders meeting next week.”
