North Central State College has been recertified as a Leader College for the Achieving the Dream initiative. In 2009, NC State was selected as one of the initial twelve Leader Colleges in the nation. The college has maintained Leader College status every year since 2009. Today, there are 78 community colleges which hold the Leader College designation.
Leader College recognition is presented to Achieving the Dream institutions that have met high standards of practice and performance. AtD Leader Colleges have demonstrated commitment to and made progress on the four principles of Achieving the Dream: committed leadership, use of evidence to improve programs and services, broad engagement, and systemic institutional improvement. They have also shown three years of sustained student success improvement. Leader Colleges are expected to serve as mentors within the Achieving the Dream community of learners, as well as advocates for the principles of Achieving the Dream.
Dorey Diab, President of NC State was pleased to receive this recertification, “It recognizes the hard work and commitment on the part of faculty, staff, and administration to improve student success, and keep it central to our mission.”
