Crowe captures 2nd HOJGA title

MARYSVILLE — Alexander Crowe of Fairbanks took top honor to win his second title in the Heart of Ohio Junior Golf Association tournament series held at Blues Creek. Sponsor of the tournament was Pam Hartman of Milford Center.

Crowe’s 36-34-70, one-under-par led the 16-18 division with 11 pars and four birdies. Logan Keller of Galion carded 73 for second, followed by Weston Prenger of Wynford at 77. Pleasant’s Nathan Newell and Galion’s Nathan McMullen tied at 79 to lead in the top five. Keller and Nicholas McMullen of Galion nabbed an eagle each to tidy their scores.

Dylan Moore of Pleasant and Ethan Krebs of Big Walnut tied for first at 81 in the 13-15 group. A playoff ensued and Moore won with a bogey on the first hole, as Krebs moved into second place. Dawson Hall of Pleasant and Henry Terry of Olentangy shared third at 82, while Matthew Ralph of Buckeye Valley scored 87 for fifth.

In the Girls 13-18 division, Dina Shah of Pleasant edged into first with 41-36-77 to lead over Maura Murphy also of Pleasant who carded 78 for second. Lainie Rafey of Delaware Hayes took third at 87. Upper Sandusky’s Liv Gier was next at 88 and Lucy Myers of Col. Crawford at 91, as leaders in their group.

Point leaders in the three divisions after four tournaments stand as 16-18 Crowe-66; 13-15 Terry-66; Girls 13-18 Dina Shah-72.

River Valley’s Asher Gates ranked first in the 12 and under 9-hole round, parring each hole, carding 36 to top his class. Bryant Berry of Col. Crawford won second at 48, succeeded by Owen Prenger of Wynford at 50, Drew Thomas of Olentangy at 54, and a tie at 55 by Griffin Gates of Delaware and Buckeye Valley’s Grayson Keller.
