Ruffener wins dash, hurdles, long jump

GALION — Katie Ruffener is the Galion Inquirer Athlete of the Week, for the week of April 18. The Colonel Crawford senior had a record-setting day at the Crawford County Track Meet.

Ruffener won each of the 100-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles, 300-meter hurdles, and long jump events.

Out of those events, 12.27 in the 100-meter dash, 13.98 in the 100-meter hurdles, and 44.06 in the 300-meter hurdles — were all good for event records at the Crawford County Track Meet.

The future Iowa State student and athlete had a huge part in helping Colonel Crawford runaway with the win, at the event.

Ruffner’s long jump of 17 feet 8 inches tied the Crawford County Meet record, as well.

Other nominees for this week’s athlete of the week were:

Andrew Armrose (Northmor) against Loudonville 3-for-4, 4 RBIs

Trevor Vogt (Colonel Crawford) was the Crawford County Meet MVP

Hudson Miller (Galion) against Elgin has 3-for-5, 3 RBIs.
