Tennis: Tigers pick up conference win against Shelby

SHELBY — Galion picked up their second march win on the early season on Tuesday evening. The Tigers traveled to Shelby and overcame the Whippets 3-2, to help them gain a Mid Ohio Athletic Conference win.

In the first singles match Senior Matt Gimbel defeated Jacob Williams 6-1, 6-2.

Jamie Hollis battled through a three set match to help the Tigers out. The senior defeated Ty Keinath 6-4, 0-6, 6-3.

Whippets (2-2, 1-2 MOAC) were able to get on the board in the third singles match. Jared Billheimer was able to defeat Galion junior Nick McMullen 6-2, 7-5.

Tigers (2-1, 2-1 MOAC) were victorious in the first doubles match of the evening. Jacob Oehler and Nate Barre won 7-5, 6-7, 7-2 against Ty Cox and Joe Williams of Shelby.

Shelby was able to take the second doubles match 6-1, 6-4. Toney Roub and Bryson Baker helped the Whippets get another point on the board by defeating Adam Geiger and Caden Jutz.

Galion was scheduled to have the rackets back out at home on Wednesday against Mansfield Senior, but rain had other plans.

Tigers will matchup with Ontario on April 7. and River Valley on April 8.
