Crestline picks up win No. 2

MANSFIELD — The Crestline Bulldogs basketball teams had a successful week last week against Mid-Buckeye Conference rival Mansfield Christian High School.

First, the girls squad from Crestline picked up their first win in nearly two calender years at home against the Lady Flames. On Saturday, the boys team traveled to Mansfield Christian and defeated the Flames, 46-45.

Crestline is now 2-7 on the season and 1-4 in MBC play.

The game remained close from the opening tip. Crestline and Mansfield Christian both scored 16 points apiece in the first period. The Bulldogs took a one-point lead into halftime after scoring nine in the second to the Flames’ eight points. Mansfield Christian would make that point up, outscoring Crestline 13-12 in the third quarter to knot the game up at 37 heading into the final period. The Bulldogs would post nine in the quarter to the Flames’ eight again to come away with the one-point victory. The game featured 10 lead changes and seven ties.

Ty Clark was the spark for the Crestline Bulldogs against the Flames. Clark’s loaded stat line constisted of 20 points, eight rebounds, three steals and an assist. Davon Triplett added nine points, seven rebounds and two steals for Crestline. Kevin Winkler chimed in with five points, seven rebounds, four steals and two assists. Kaden Ronk and Tyler Sipes contributed four points apiece while Caleb Hoskins and Noah Snyder had two points each.

Mansfield Christian was lead by Kyle Kurtz’ 25 points and Jared McPeek’s 10 points in the loss.

Crestline will be on the road to play Lakota on Friday Jan. 13 and then back home on Saturday Jan. 14 to host MBC foe, the Danville Blue Devils.
