Eagles defeat Warriors in N-10 battle

SYCAMORE — On Friday night, the Colonel Crawford Eagles traveled to Sycamore to meet up with the Mohawk Warriors in Northern-10 Athletic Conference action. Crawford picked up the win, 51-43.

The Eagles are2-2 overall and 1-1 in conference play. Mohawk drops to 1-2 and 1-1.

Harley Shaum was the top scorer for Crawford with 14 points on seven converted two-point buckets. Cameron McCreary tacked on 11 points in the win with a two-point field goal, a three and six points from the foul line.

Colonel Crawford finished the contest at 50% from the free throw stripe at 13/26. They would hit 16-two point buckets on the night and just two from downtown.

The Eagles came out ready to play and found themselves up by eight at the end of the first period, 13-5. Although Mohawk would outscore Crawford in the second, 12-8, the Eagles took a solid lead into the half, 21-17. Crawford would come out of the half, reenergized and take a 36-25 lead into the final period. Mohawk added 18 points to their total in the fourth but it would not be enough as the Eagles came away with the victory.

Crawford will play host to N-10 and county foe, the Wynford Royals on Saturday Dec.17. On Tuesday Dec.2o, they will travel to Attica to play the Seneca East Tigers, also of the Northern-10 Athletic Conference.
