Leesville Grange holds November meeting

LEESVILLE — Leesville Grange #2078 met at Jefferson Twp. Fire Dept. on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. Master/President Donald Graf presided over the meeting. Chaplain Pro-Tem June Slabach offered prayer followed by the pledge of allegiance to the American Flag.

The Legislative Chairman reported on House Bill 435 Ohio Covid-19 Vaccine Fairness Act and House Bill 290 to establish a school funding formula that allows families to choose the option for all computed funding amounts associated with students’ education to follow them to the public and nonpublic schools they attend. This was election day throughout the United States.

The Family Activities Chairperson stated that baking contests are going to be rippled coffee cake, can’t leave alone bars, Hawaiian butter mochi recipe, soft double chocolate chip cookies for 41 and over and men’s only contest chocolate chip blondies.

The Deaf Activities Chairman read an article on sudden hearing loss, what you should know and what to do if you suspect a buildup of earwax.

Community Services Chairman talked about C.A.M.P. asking for assistance for Thanksgiving basket and Community Christmas. It was decided that a monetary donation would go toward a Thanksgiving basket and food for Community Christmas. Also discussed Crestline Fire and Police Dept. sponsoring a toy drive.

Lecturer reported on programs to share this year and the categories are honoring members – past or present, any unusual holiday and any topic.

Lecturer’s Program theme for the evening was “Fun Facts about Thanksgiving Traditions”.

Two members celebrated their birthday in November, Barb Van Scoit and Priscilla Laughbaum celebrated with cake and ice cream.

The next regular Leesville Grange meeting will be held at Jefferson Twp. Fire Dept. on Dec. 7 at 6:30 p.m. Lunch is going to be a traditional family Christmas dish.
