Developmental disabilities board to meet

BUCYRUS — The Crawford County Board of Developmental Disabilities will have its regularly scheduled monthly board meeting on Thursday, March 19, at 7 p.m., in the board room at 1630 E. Southern Avenue, Suite 101, Bucyrus

Tent 91 conducts March meeting

GALION — Mary Hetter Keis Tent 91 of the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War met March 3 at the home of Melanie Baker. The meeting was conducted by president Cathy Brown.

A thank-you card was read from Department President, Betsy Potts and PDP Cindy Freed, for the wonderful time at our dinner and meeting in December.

It was reported that the wish for a basket of valentine cards was met for World War II veteran Major Bill White, with over 300,000 cards received. Several of our members participated in this venture.

Four members attended the Lincoln Day Dinner at Grotto Hall, Mansfield, Ohio on February 9, 2020. The event was hosted by the SUVCW. Very enjoyable day. The Tent submitted an article to the National Drumbeat.

Relief report included: One flowers for deceased, one flowers for ill, two personal visits, 94 cheer cards sent and 65 volunteer hours served.

As our Tent is hosting the Ohio Department Convention in June, lots of discussion on activities for the weekend. Planning of the Campfire activity was mostly discussed. Final details at next meeting.

Mystery gift was won by Marilyn Sipes. Refreshments were served by Melanie Baker. The next meeting will be April 7 at the home of Judy Sanders, with Donna Yaussy serving as hostess.

Leesville, Pomona Grange members meet

JEFFERSON TOWHSHIP — Master/President Donald Graf presided over the meeting for Leesville Grange #2078/Crawford Co. Pomona Grange #36 which met at thr Jefferson Township Fire Department on March 3. Chaplain Dorothy Eckert offered prayer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance .

The Legislative report had information that most county boards of election have passed election security checks. At least 150,000 absentee ballots have been requested by Ohioans.

The Family Activities report was the baking contests will be at the next meeting consisting of frosted pineapple cookies, honey wheat bread and slab pie. Men only contest is soft double chocolate chip cookies. Bring eye glasses, lenses and cases. The Deaf Activities Chairman announced the Deaf Conference will be March 21 at the Ohio State Grange office. Bring box top labels to the next meeting for Ohio School for the Deaf. Read information about degrees of hearing loss. Community Service Chairman thanked all who brought peanut butter for Haiti in conjunction with Lifeline Ministries and Crestline-area churches. Donations are being accepted for Flying Horse Farms.

The plans for the Leesville Grange banquet in honor of Grange Month being held on April 25 at Calvary UCC at 6:00 PM were discussed. A Leesville Grange ad is going to be placed in the Crawford County Fair Book.

Communications were received from Ohio State Grange regarding nominations for delegates to the Ohio State Grange Convention and a newsletter entitled Trails from Crawford Park District. The lecturer’s program theme was “March National Nutrition Month.” The next regular Leesville Grange meeting is April 7 at 7 p.m., also at the Jefferson Township Fire Department. Lunch will be state baking contest items.
