Lady Tigers tennis team improves to 12-0

BUCYRUS — Fresh off of their Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference tournament victory, the Galion Lady Tigers tennis squad traveled to Bucyrus on Monday to meet up in non-league play with the Lady Redmen.

Galion improved to 12-0 after deafeating Bucyrus; 5-0.

The singles players for the Lady Tigers all cruised to straight-set victories on the day.

Kayley Gimbel won at first singles; 6-0, 6-0 to improve to 15-3 on the season. At second singles, Katherine Talbott was victorious; 6-0, 6-1 to remain undefeated at 17-0. Jalyn Oswald also won 6-0, 6-0 to bump her record up to 17-0 in 2017.

Katie Baughn and Elli Chandler also breezed to a 6-0, 6-1 for Galion’s fourth point en route to improving their record to 13-3. Kiersten Gifford and Danielle Schneider secured the sweep for the visiting Lady Tigers by winning their match-up; 6-2, 4-6, 10-4 (tiebreak).

Galion will aim to remain undefeated in league play on Tuesday afternoon when they play host to the Lady Colts from Clear Fork. After a short break, the Tigers will be back in action on Monday, September 25 when they face-off against Bucyrus again, this time at home.
