Speaker named for farm bureau/SWCD annual meeting

BUCYRUS — The public is welcome to join the Crawford Soil and Water Conservation District and the Crawford County Farm Bureau for their combined annual meeting Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017. The meeting is at The Pickwick Place, 1875 N Sandusky Ave. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Dinner tickets cost $10. Reservation deadline is Sept. 5.

The featured speakers are the Farmers Helping Farmers group; the group that organized the Kansas wildfire victims’ assistance. In March of 2017, deadly wildfires swept through the west.

The Crawford SWCD supervisor election will be begin at 5:30 p.m. and end at 6:45 p.m. All Crawford County residents 18 of older may vote in the SWCD election. Register at the door in order to receive a ballot. Any eligible voter may vote in the Crawford SWCD supervisor election and leave without purchasing a ticket. Non-resident landowners may vote by filing a notarized affidavit (SEL-8) form certifying land ownership prior to registering to vote.

This year, the Farm Bureau business meeting is 5:45 – 6:20 p.m. and will include minutes, policies, and trustee elections. All Crawford County Farm Bureau members are encouraged to attend.

The dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be catered by Kountry Katering. Events following dinner include the SWCD outstanding cooperator award sponsored by Ag Credit, Lake Erie Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program buffer award, affiliate members’ recognition, the Farm Bureau recognitions and awards, and the Crawford SWCD and Farm Bureau election results.
