SYCAMORE — The Mohawk Lady Warriors played host to the Colonel Crawford Eagles on Friday night for Northern-10 Athletic Conference action. Crawford would pick up their first conference victory, defeating Mohawk by a final tally of 42-34.
Colonel Crawford improves to 3-2 overall on the year and 1-1 in the N-10 and Mohawk drops to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in league play.
The Eagles were ready from the start of the game and took a 16-8 lead into the second quarter. It was much the same result in the second period as Crawford outscored Mohawk 13-8 to take a 29-16 lead into the half. The Warriors won the third and fourth quarters, but a second half score of 18-13 was not enough to gain a victory.
Leading the scoring for Colonel Crawford was Ashley Gwirtz with 17 points. All 17 of her points were from the interior, including 5/6 from the free throw line. Alexus Burkhart scored 11 points on two three pointers and 5/8 from the charity stripe.
Next up for the Eagles will be conference and county rival, the Wynford Royals, at home on Tuesday Dec.13. Wynford is currently 2-3 overall and 2-0 in the N-10.
