Lady Knights drop second match of 2017

CENTERBURG — On Tuesday, Oct. 10, the Northmor Lady Golden Knights volleyball team began their three-game road trip to finish off the 2017 regular season.

Entering the contest, Northmor had lost just one match (Highland) on the season. However, the hometown Centerburg Lady Trojans would hand the Knights their second loss of the season. The Lady Knights fell to the Trojans in five sets; 22-25, 25-17, 22-25, 25-21 and 12-15. Northmor is now 17-2 overall and 11-2 within the Knox-Morrow Athletic Conference.

Jordyn Zoll provided another well-rounded stat line for Northmor in the marathon match. Zoll was a perfect 17/17 serving, racking up three aces. Zoll also had 39 assist, five kills, 11 digs and four blocks on the night.

Caitlin Thebeault also was busy on the offensive side of the net for the visiting Knights. Thebeault finished with 25 assists, two aces and 25/26 hitting, leading to 15 kills in the loss. Kelsie Fike went 15/15 serving and recorded an ace while also contributing nine kills.

Other offensive statistics for Northmor were: Leslie Brubaker- 22/27 hitting, 14 kills; Anna Donner- 47/50 hitting, 18 kills; Hope Miracle- 3 kills; Hanna Bentley and Lily Tate- 2 kills apiece.

Bruaker recorded seven total blocks on Tuesday to lead the Knights’ defensive front. Donner racked up 21 digs and four blocks. Aly Blunk finished the game with 18 digs while Cristianna Boggs chipped in 16 digs in Northmor’s efforts.

The Golden Knights will face Bishop Ready on Wednesday evening and then play their final game of the regular season at Highland on Thursday.
