Tennis team knocks off Buckeye Valley

GALION —The Buckeye Valley tennis team travelled to Heise Park in Galion on Tuesday night to compete with the Tigers.

The Tigers had no problem, handing the Barons a 5-0 loss in their Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference Red Division match.

Kayle Gimble won at first singles 6-1, 6-0. Katherine Talbott was in action at second singles, winning 6-1, 6-0. Rounding out singles matchups was Jalyn Oswald at third singles, handing her opponent a 6-3, 6-0 loss.

Galion breezed in straight sets in both doubles matches as well. The first doubles team of Kiersten Gifford and Marissa Brenich won 6-4, 6-0. Danielle Schneider and Ellie Chandler were victorious at second doubles, winning 6-3, 6-3.

The Tigers are 2-1 early in the 2016 season, which continues on Thursday when they travel to Caledonia to take on the Vikings from River Valley.
