Boys basketball: Eagles, Royals fall in districts

The Colonel Crawford boys basketball team lost to top-seeded team Sandusky St. Mary’s Catholic Central 48-42 in the semifinals of the Division IV Willard District on Tuesday.

The No. 3 seed Eagles were tied with the Panthers at 25 halftime.

Colonel Crawford shot 14 of 44 and made 2 of 6 free throws, while Sandusky St. Mary’s CC shot 18 of 53 and made 9 of 21 free throws.

The Panthers defeated the Eagles 23-17 in the second half.

Colonel Crawford had 27 rebounds and five turnovers, while Sandusky St. Mary’s CC had 36 rebounds and nine turnovers.

Owen Adams led the team with 18 points, while Derek Burkhart added 12 points.

Trennton Zimmerman led St. Mary’s with 15 points.

Colonel Crawford concludes its season with a 16-8 overall record.

Wynford Royals

The No. 6 seed Wynford boys basketball team lost to St. Peter’s, seeded second, 72-59 in the semifinals of the Division IV Willard District on Tuesday.

The Royals trailed the Spartans 43-25 at halftime.

Wynford shot 24 of 53 and made 5 of 9 free throws, while St. Peter’s shot 28 of 43 and made 11 of 18 free throws.

The Royals defeated the Spartans 34-29 in the second half but was not enough to overcome the early deficit.

Wynford had 23 rebounds and 15 turnovers, while St. Peter’s had 20 rebounds and eight turnovers.

Jack Reed led the Royals with a game high of 28 points, while Alex Crall added 10.

Mason Campbell led the Spartans with 21 points, while Kyle Osgar and Ryan Payne added 16 points each.

Wynford concludes its season with a 15-10 overall record.
