Swimming: Tigers defeat Redmen

The Galion swim team traveled to Bucyrus with the both the boys and girls teams victorious.

The Lady Tigers were led by first place finishes by Allison DeNero (100-yard butterfly, 200 IM), Bri Wallis (50, 500 free), and Sari Conner (100 free, backstroke). The Lady Tigers won all of the relay events.

The Men’s Tiger team had first place finishes by Eli Skaggs (50, 100 free), Luke Eisnaugle (200 IM, 100 breaststroke), Clay Karnes (100 fly, 500 free) and Landon Rose (100 backstroke, 200 free).

“Eli is undefeated in dual meet action this season,” Galion swimming head coach Ted Temple said.

The Tiger Men’s team won all of the relay events.

The Lady Tigers are 2-5 while the Tigers is 5-2 this season.

For the Redmen, Samantha Murtiff notched the top spot in the 200 free.

Galion will compete in the Division II Invitational hosted by Mount Gilead on Saturday.

Bucyrus will travel to Sandusky for a tri-meet on Thursday.

Colonel Crawford Eagles

The Colonel Crawford swimming team defeated Ontario on Tuesday.

The team grabbed 18 first-place finishes, as well as 10 second- and 9 third-place finishes for a combined total of 136 between the boys and girls.

The Warriors had 51 points.

The Lady Eagles won 79-14. Taking first were Megan Sharp (200-yard freestyle, 500 free), Chloe Grove (100 fly, 200 IM), Callie Ruffener (50, 100 free), Jillianne Gregg (100 backstroke) and Kennedy Speck (100 breaststroke).

The girls also won all three relay events. Madison Sharp, Speck, Gregg and Ruffener finished the 200 medley in 2:03, while Gregg, Pierce Krassow, Madison Sharp and Grove won the 200 free in 1:49.10. In the 400 free relay, Madison Sharp, Krassow, Grove and Ruffener sported a 4:01.13.

The Eagles totaled 57 points. Taking first individually were Grant Pfeifer (100, 200 free), Jake Johnson (100 breaststroke, 200 IM) and Nic Motter (500 free).

In relays, the boys 200 medley team of Jacob Roesch, Ryan Johnson, Jake Johnson and Pfeifer recorded a 1:54.23 for first place. Roesch, Pfeifer, Motter and Jake Johnson also took first in the 200 free (1:38.70).

Colonel Crawford will be back in action at the Oak Harbor Invitational on Saturday.
