BUCYRUS — Friday evening Bucyrus High School hosted a unique event, one that is meaningful for all of the participants. The third annual Crawford County High School and Crawford County Chargers Special Olympics Unified Basketball Exhibition tipped off at 7 p.m. Friday and brought in a nice crowd.

Overall there were 10 area high school basketball players participating in the event. These 10 players all come from Crawford County and attend one of the area schools. Two teams were made of area basketball players, as well as some of the area Special Olympians.

Stepping forwad were the 10 Special Olympians: Monroe Harris, Christian Olmstead, Jamie Noe, Danny Shambaugh, Allen Burkhart, Ashley Taylor, Jon Edmonson, Kim Meyer, Bethany Shirkey, and Tammy Tyree.

Seniors Jaxon Oswald and Natalee Perkins played in the game, two hoopers from Galion High School. They were by joined by sophomore Cooper Kent as well. Kent will have two years left at Galion and will be a large part of their future. On the other hand, Perkins is heading to play basketball — as well as continue her education — at Bluffon University.

Others area high school basketball players include: Eddie Dagher and Karmyn Blizzard, Bucyrus; Maddie Coffman, Wynford; Kaylyn Risner, Colonel Crawford; Connor Lusk and Kennedi Sipes, Crestline; and Wurm and Drew Rose, Buckeye Central.
