Boys basketball: Tigers defeated in MOAC

Galion lost its second game in the Mid Ohio Athletic Conference and the season with a 55-52 home loss against Buckeye Valley Saturday.

The Tigers headed to the locker room with a 26-25 lead at halftime but the Barons won the second half 30-26.

Galion shot 23 of 42 and made four of nine free throws, while Buckey Valley shot 19 of 42 and made 12 of 22 free throws.

Kalvin Rinehart led all scorers with 18 points including a 3-pointer for the Tigers. Houston Blair added 12 points including a 3-pointer and three free throws. Gavin Ratcliff recorded 10 points and Colton Moore dropped eight.

For the Barons, Mitch Rotondo led with 14 points including four free throws, while Jesse Tomlinson and Grant Kelly added 12 points each. Kelly had two 3-pointers.

The Tigers (1-2, 0-2 MOAC) will travel to play Cardington-Lincoln Tuesday night.

Buckeye Central Bucks

Buckeye Central lost a home game to New Riegel 54-31 in Northern 10 Athletic Conference play on Saturday.

Grant Loy led the Bucks with 13 points, while Jacob Shade added nine points.

New Riegel was led by Gran Lescallett with 15 points including two 3-pointers. Michael Kirian and Jadon Yambert both added 10 points each.

The Bucks (2-1, 1-0 N10) will travel to play St. Peter’s on Thursday.

Colonel Crawford Eagles

The Colonel Crawford boys basketball team defeated Mohawk 45-31 in league play Saturday night.

The Eagles shot 15 of 28 and made six of nine free throws, while the Warriors made nine of 26 shots and one of two free throws.

Colonel Crawford had 22-9 lead at halftime.

Owen Adams led the Eagles with 19 points including a free throw, while Derek Burkhart added 14 including two 3-pointers.

For the Warriors, Brayden Dunlap led scorers with 19 points including three 3-pointers.

Colonel Crawford (2-0, 1-0) will travel to play Wynford on Friday.

Bucyrus Redmen

The Bucyrus boys basketball team lost to Crestview 72-55 Saturday.

Clinton Carr paced the Redmen with 18 points, while Isaiah Johnson added 16 points.

For the Cougars, Keagon Graybeal and Trevor Durbin each had 13 points and one 3-pointer. Colton Stevens added 12 points with two 3-pointers.

The Redmen (0-3, 0-0 N10) will travel for its first conference game against Seneca East on Friday.

Wynford Royals

The Wynford boys basketball team defeated Ridgedale on its turf in league play 64-55 Saturday.

Alex Craw led the team with 28 points including four 3-pointers, while Braxton Tea added 17 points.

Preston Burton led Ridgedale with 24 points, while Alex Eldred added 12 points including two 3-pointers.

Wynford (2-1, 1-0 N10) will host to play Colonel Crawford on Saturday.
