Boys basketball: Bucks, Northmor win season opener

Buckeye Central Bucks

Buckeye Central defeated South Central 44-43 on Friday.

The Bucks (1-0, 0-0 Northern 10 Athletic Conference) hit 18 of 39 shots and six of 14 free throws. Grant Loy led scorers with 14 points, eight rebounds and two 3-pointers, while Jacob Shade had 12 points and six rebounds.

South Central completed 14 shots out of 42 attempts including three 3-pointers.

The Bucks will travel to play Seneca East for its first conference match Thursday.

Bucyrus Redmen v. Northmor Golden Knights

Northmor won its first season opener in three years with a 58-37 victory over Bucyrus Saturday.

The Redmen shot 12 for 26 with Clinton Carr leading the team’s scorers at 13 points and six rebounds, while Gram Dick tallied 12 points and Keegan Sims had seven points.

Tyler Kegley finished with 14 total rebounds and 13 points for the Golden Knights. Gunney Lilly also had 13 points.

Also, Brock Pletcher and Meechie Johnson each finished with 10 points.

The Redmen (0-1, 0-0) will host conference foe Riverdale on Tuesday.

Northmor (1-0) will host Mt. Gilead Thursday.

Crestline Bulldogs

Crestline lost its season opener with a 59-42 defeat from Mansfield Temple Christian on Saturday.

The Bulldogs tallied 16 of 37 shots, 32 rebounds and had 10 free throws out of 19 attempts. Zach Gregory lead the Bulldogs with 17 points, while Kevin Winkler added nine points and nine rebounds.

The Crusaders hit 24 of 58 shots inlcuding five 3-pointers. The team also had six free throws and 38 rebounds. Jacob McClelland lead Temple Christian with 16 points including four 3-pointers.

Crestline will host to play Colonel Crawford Eagles’ season opener on Dec. 2.

Wynford Royals

Shelby defeated Wynford 78-53 on Saturday.

Braxton Tea led the Royals’ scorers with 14 points including two 3-pointers, while Jack Reed had 11 points and three 3-pointers.

Alex Crall and James Ort both had 9 points.

Brock Kehres had 14 points with two 3-pointers for Shelby, while Uriah Gieesler and David Hipp had 12, Brady Hill tallied 11 and Brandon Schneider recorded 10.

The Royals (1-1, 0-0 N10) will travel to play Ridgedale on Saturday.
