Cardington, Northmor girls both pick up Tuesday basketball wins

The Cardington girls’ basketball team got their Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference season off to a good start by trouncing East Knox 80-23 on the road Tuesday.

After a hard-fought first quarter after which the Pirates only led 15-10, Cardington took control of the game by taking the second period by a 20-5 margin.

They would then outscore the Bulldogs 22-4 in the third quarter and 23-4 in the fourth to pull away for the blowout win.

Northmor Knights

The Northmor girls got into the win column on Tuesday, as they played a defensive gem in topping Crestline 63-17.

The Knights were able to shut out their opponents for the entire first half, outscoring them 20-0 in the first quarter and 16-0 in the second to hold a 36-0 lead at the intermission. They took the third 20-10 before both teams scored seven in the fourth to finish on top by 46.

Karalee Patterson tallied 19 points, hitting four three-pointers in the process, to lead the Knights. Maddie Swihart added 14. Brooke Bennett finished with nine rebounds and both Cristianna Boggs and Karlee Carroll tallied three assists.
