Girls tennis: St. Peter’s knocks off Crestline

St. Peter’s swept Crestline in Mid-Buckeye Conference girls’ tennis action Aug. 25 at Maple Lake Park in Mansfield.

In first singles play, the Spartans’ Natalie Zitko was a 6-0, 6-1, winner over Crestline’s Michaela Jeffrey. Ava Cobb of St. Peter’s defeated Katlyn Stull of Crestline, 6-0, 6-0, at second singles. At number three singles, St. Peter’s Corinne Amalfitano topped the Lady Bulldogs’ Destiny Ritter, 6-1, 6-1.

In doubles action, Emily McCarrick and Emmaline Thompson of St. Peter’s defeated the Crestline duo of Ellen Dailey and Soren Murphy, 6-0, 6-1. The Spartans’ pairing of Kierra Lindsay and Sophie Nanmhoff needed three sets to defeat Crestline’s Mariah Mosier and Maddie Cultice, 5-6, 7-6, 11-9.

Crestline travels to Upper Sandusky on Thursday. Match time is 4:15 p.m.

St. Peter’s travels to Mansfield Senior on Wednesday, then plays host to Triway on Thursday.
