Knights wrestlers take 3rd at Delaware Hayes Duals

DELAWARE — The Northmor Golden Knights wrestling squad traveled south on Saturday, December 16 to compete in the annual Delaware Hayes Duals wrestling tourney.

Northmor would have success on the day, finishing third as a team overall. The Knights picked up victories against the Springboro Panthers (41-27), the Amanda Clearcreek Aces (42-40) and the Big Walnut Eagles (51-25) before falling to the hosting Hayes Pacers by a narrow margin of 36-35.

Four wrestlers went on to an undefeated, 4-0 record on Saturday at the tournament. All four of those wrestlers for Northmor are also now 8-0 on the season.

Gavin Ramos (126) earned two pinfalls on the day while Conan Becker (145) won three of his four matches by pinfall. Tony Martinez (152) won all four of his matches, two by pinfall and Conor Becker (160) went 4-0, also with two-pinfall wins.

Manny Heilman (106) and Austin Amens (120) both improved to 5-3 on the year by going 3-1 on the day and teammate Aaron Kitts (138) lost his first match of the year Saturday (7-1) en route to a 3-1 finish in the tourney.

On Wednesday, December 20, the Knights will travel to Ashland and Crestview High School to compete in a Super-tri with Mechanicsburg and Oak Harbor. After a week off, Northmor will be participating in the Medina Invitational on December 27 and 28.
