DELAWARE — The hits keep coming for the Northmor Lady Golden Knights volleyball team.
On Tuesday evening, the No. 4 seeded Northmor squad headed to Buckeye Valley High School to meet up with the No. 5 seeded Newark Catholic Lady Green Wave in the Division III Delaware I District semifinals.
Northmor would find themselves in a real battle against Newark Catholic but would keep their season alive, winning 3-2. Set scores for the evening were: 11-25, 25-21, 26-24, 17-25 and 15-11. The Lady Golden Knights are now 20-4 on the season and will advance to the district finals against the No. seeded Pleasant Lady Spartans. Pleasant defeated the No. 8 seeded Columbus School for Girls; 3-0 on Tuesday at Buckeye Valley.
Anna Donner came up big on both sides of the net for the Knights on Tuesday. Offensively, Donner was 19/19 on the serve, recording three aces while also providing the offense with 18 kills. Donner also finished the contest with two blocks and 11 digs to thwart the Green Wave attack.
Caitlin Thebeault made a big impact offensively as well for Northmor, going 14/14 on the serve, netting an ace, had 14 assists and threw down six kills in the victory.
Other offensive statistics for the Lady Knights were: Jordyn Zoll- 22 assists, 10/10 serving; Leslie Brubaker- 7 kills; Kelsie Fike- 14/14 serving, 5 kills and Cristianna Boggs- 14/14 serving, ace.
Additional defensive stats for Northmor were: Zoll- block; Brubaker- 2 blocks; Boggs- 16 digs; Aly Blunk- 15 digs and Lily Tate- block.
The clash between the Knights and the Spartans will take place on Saturday, Oct. 28 at Buckeye Valley High School, with a start time of 2 p.m. From there, the district champion will head to Lake High School in Uniontown to face-off against the winner of the Kalida District. The semifinals in the Kalida District will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 25 to decide the finals pairing. Remaining games in that bracket are: 1. Coldwater vs 4. Minster and 2. Liberty-Benton vs 3. Ottawa-Glandorf.
