Bulldogs rout Rockets

CRESTLINE — The Bulldogs of Crestline High School welcomed the Ridgedale Rockets to Hutson Stadium on Friday night to clash for the second time this season.

The ‘Dogs defeated the Rockets back on Sep. 22 by a score of 35-0 in a shortened game. On Friday, Crestline would defeat the visiting Ridgedale squad again, this time by a tally of 64-27. Crestline improves to 5-4 with the victory.

The home team jumped out to a 14-0 lead after one quarter of play and would continue on to hold a 34-14 lead at the half. Crestline would outscore Ridgedale in the second half, 30-13, en route to the lopsided win.

For the contest, the ‘Dogs put together 473 yards of total offense; 269 through the air and 204 on the ground.

Ty Clark was responsible for 184 of those passing yards, going 6/8 on the night and tossing three touchdowns. Caleb Moore also took snaps at quarterback and turned in a 1/1 performance with his only completion being an 85-yard TD strike to Dakota Wireman. The catch was also Wireman’s only reception of the night.

Davon Triplett earned another 100+ yard game receiving, catching just three passes to gain 103 yards and two touchdowns. Moore also caught a touchdown pass on the night and finished with two catches totaling 73 yards. Bailey Woolard rounded out the receiving attack with a catch for seven yards.

On the ground, Moore tacked on another touchdown and had 10 carries for 90 yards. Wireman ran his way to one touchdown while picking up 58 yards on just three carries. Ethan Clum carried the ball just once but would rumble his way to a 54-yard touchdown in the process. Triplett earned another touchdown on his only carry for eight yards.

Triplett earned his fourth TD for the contest on a 75-yard kickoff return.

Defensively, the ‘Dogs recorded three sacks and nine tackles for losses.

Crestline will close out their 2017 season at home on Friday, Oct. 27 when they welcome the Bucyrus Redmen to Hutson Stadium.
