NORTH ROBINSON — To celebrate the schools homecoming, the Colonel Crawford Eagles played host to Crawford County and Northern-10 Athletic Conference foes, the Buckeye Central Bucks, on the gridiron last Friday evening.
The Eagles would go on to overwhelm the Bucks on both sides of the football en route to a lopsided, 61-0 victory. Colonel Crawford improves to 4-5 overall with the win and are now 2-4 within the league. Buckeye Central remains winless for the season at 0-9 and sit at 0-6 in the N-10.
Crawford would rack up 402 yards of total offense against the Bucks “D” on Friday; 269 yards on the ground and 133 yards through the air.
Trevor Shawber owned 199 yards of that offense himself on just 11 carries that lead to four touchdowns. Dylan Knisley carried the ball twice for 23 yards and a score while quarterback Hayden Bute picked up the other rushing TD, a seven-yarder, on his only carry of the night.
Other rushing stats for the Eagles were: Tristan Cross- 3 carries, 19 yards; Jacob Dailey- 1 carry, 9 yards; Caleb Lohr- 2 carries, 8 yards; Zye Shipman- 1 carry, 2 yards; Ethan Suter and Dylan David- 1 carry for 1 yard each.
Bute finished the contest at 6/7 passing for 190 total yards and reserve QB Shipman completed two of three passes for 43 yards and a touchdown. Owin Seevers caught the Shipman touchdown strike for his only catch of the game (37 yards).
Kaleb Landin led the way for Crawford with 76 yards on three catches. Cameron Smith snagged two catches for 10 yards, Seth Carman caught one pass for six yards and Kyle Shope rounded out the air attack for the Eagles with one catch equating to four yards.
Cross would earn a defensive score for the home team on a 54-yard touchdown after a fumble recovery. Seevers added another defensive TD on an 82-yard “pick-six”. Crawford’s “D” allowed the Buckeye Central offense just 49 yards of total offense (29 rushing and 20 passing) for the game.
Spencer Mutchler finished the game at 6/7 on extra-point attempts while Pierce Krassow went 1/2 on her PAT tries.
Other N-10 scores from Friday were: Wynford (7-2, 6-0) 34 and Upper Sandusky (3-6, 2-4) 0; Seneca East (7-1, 5-1) 46 and Bucyrus (1-8, 1-6) 7; Mohawk (7-2, 5-2) 32 and Carey (7-2, 4-2) 0.
Crawford will finish their 2017 season on the road against the Upper Sandusky Rams on Friday, Oct. 27.
