GALION — On Friday night, the Northmor Golden Knights football squad welcomed Knox-Morrow Athletic Conference rival, the East Knox Bulldogs, to town for a homecoming game clash.

In an extremely close game that saw a lot of yardage gained from both teams, it was East Knox coming out on top, edging Northmor; 32-28. The loss puts the Knights at 2-2 in conference play and 5-2 overall on the season. The Bulldogs remain undefeated in the KMAC and overall at 4-0 and 7-0, respectively.

The contest started out in favor of the home team as Northmor scored the only points in the first quarter and would tack on another score in the second while allowing two ‘Dogs touchdowns in the second. With a 14-12 leading heading into the second half, Northmor would post a touchdown in both the third and the fourth but would allow 20 points to the visitors to take the loss.

On the night, East Knox amassed 415 total yards of offense; 352 through the air and 63 on the ground. Keeping with their usual trend, the bulk of Northmor’s yardage was picked up on the ground. The Knights picked up 385 yards on the ground and just 51 through the air for a total of 436 yards from scrimmage.

Meechie Johnson picked up the majority of the rushing yards, carrying the ball 33 times en route to 323 yards and four scores. Johnson completed four of 11 passes for 51 yards while throwing three interceptions. Northmor turned the ball over four total times on the night.
