Lady Tigers tennis dominates on the road

CALEDONIA — On Tuesday afternoon, the Galion Lady Tigers tennis program continued their impressive season with a road win at River Valley, defeating the hosting Lady Vikings; 4-1.

With the victory, Galion remains unbeaten after 10 matches (10-0) and are perfect in the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference at 7-0.

The Lady Tigers picked up three points from their singles trio on Tuesday afternoon.

At first singles, Kayley Gimbel cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory over her River Valley opposition to improve to 12-1 on the season. Katherine Talbott is now 13-0 on the year after winning her second singles match; 6-1, 6-2. Jalyn Oswald won 6-2, 6-0 at third singles to continue her undefeated season as well (13-0).

Elli Chandler and Katie Baughn improved to 10-1 on the 2017 season with their victory at second doubles; 6-2, 7-5. The only point for the Lady Vikings came at first doubles when the River Valley duo defeated Galion’s Danielle Schneider and Kiersten Gifford; 6-2, 7-5.

Galion will be back in action on Thursday, September 14 when they play host to the Harding Prexies at Heise Park. On Saturday, September 16, the Lady Tigers will head to Harding to compete for a MOAC title.
