Catching up with the Galion soccer teams

Galion Lady Tigers 0, River Valley Lady Vikings 2

CALEDONIA — The Galion Lady Tigers made a trip to River Valley High School to meet up with the Lady Vikings in a Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference soccer match on Wednesday afternoon.

It was the home team that would come out ahead 2-0 in the contest. With the loss, Galion drops to 1-4 on the season and currently sits at 0-2 in league play.

Dru Singer had 22 saves in her return to the goalkeeper position on the day.

Next up for the Lady Tigers will be the Prexies from Marion Harding. The two teams will meet in MOAC action in Galion on Wednesday, September 13 at 5 pm.

Galion Tigers 1, River Valley Vikings 4

GALION — On Wednesday afternoon, the Galion Tigers boys soccer team welcomed conference foe, the River Valley Vikings to town for their second home game ever.

Although Galion would score their first home goal in the program’s existence, it was the Vikings coming out on top; 4-1. The Tigers are now 0-4 overall in 2017 and 0-2 in conference matches.

Jason Guthridge netted the first goal for the boys squad on the season on an assist from Ben Alstadt. Galion managed 11 shots on goal for the game. Stephen Thompson recorded 22 total saves between the posts for the hosting Tigers squad.

Galion will hit the road for another MOAC contest on Wednesday, September 13. This time the opponent will be the Harding Presidents.

Galion Tigers 0, Upper Sandusky Rams 9

UPPER SANDUSKY — The Upper Sandusky Rams defeated the Galion Tigers in boys soccer action on Tuesday, September 5 by a final tally of 9-0.

Galion struggled offensively in the contest and allowed 35 shots on goal defensively. Aside from the nine goals scored by Upper, Thompson racked up 26 saves for the match.
