GALION — On Saturday, August 26 the Willard Lady Flashes traveled to Galion to meet up in non-conference volleyball action with the the hosting Lady Tigers.

Willard would get the best of Galion and march to a straight-set victory; 25-11, 25-17 and 25-22. The loss was the Lady Tigers’ first on the season as they are now 2-1 overall and remain at 1-0 in the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference.

The defense of the Tigers kept the matches at bay on Saturday. In total, Galion notched nine blocks and 83 digs but proved to be not enough against the Willard offensive onslaught.

Marisa Gwinner led the way in the block department with five while Nicole Thomas added four. As for digs, Kasidee Sinclair was busy on the defensive for the home team with 22 and Thomas recorded 16 total digs.

Other defensive stats for Galion: Samantha Comer- block assist, 4 digs; Gwinner- 11 digs; Jaden Ivy- 12 digs; Gillian Miller- dig; Kayla Hardy- 10 digs; Kate Schieber- 6 digs and Abby Foust- dig.

Offensively, Galion couldn’t seem to find the rhythm against Willard. As a team, the Lady Tigers accumulated just 21 total kills on 21 assists. Although the numbers in the kill department were lower than usual, the attacks were spread out amongst more players. Leading the Tigers in kills was Gwinner with seven and Hardy provided 15 of the 21 assists.

Other offensive stats for Galion: Comer- 5 kills; Ivy- 3 kills; Miller- kill; Hardy- kill; Foust- 6 assists; Sinclair- 4 kills.
