Lady Bulldogs tennis season in full swing

St.Peter’s 4 Crestline 0

MANSFIELD — The Lady Bulldogs from Crestline were on the road in Mansfield on Thursday, August 17 to meet up with Mid-Buckeye Conference foes, the St.Peter’s Lady Spartans.

With a forfeit at third singles, the Crestline squad fell to St.Pete’s by a tally of 4-0. With the loss, the Lady ‘Dogs fall to 1-2 on the season and 0-1 in the MBC.

Michaela Jeffrey fell at first singles to Gracie Cornell; 3-6, 3-6. At second singles, Sabrina Forwith dropped her match with Emiy McCorrick; 0-6, 1-6.

Katlyn Stull and Maddie Cultice put up a fight at first singles but dropped their contest with Corinne Amalfifano and Alex Wasylemki; 3-6, 3-6. At second doubles, Mariah Mosier and Jasmine Tesso lost in straight sets; 4-6, 4-6.

Crestline took on Madison at home on Monday August 21 but results were not made available to the Inquirer at deadline. On Thursday, the Bulldogs will head to Marion for a meeting with the Harding Prexies.

Crestline 3 Clear Fork 1

CRESTLINE — In their first home match of the season, the Crestline girls tennis squad welcomed the Clear Fork Lady Colts to Miller Courts for a non-league match on Tuesday, August 15.

The Lady Bulldogs defeated the Lady Colts, 3-1. With their first victory of the early season, Crestline stands at 1-1 overall.

Jeffrey won in straight sets over Layne Davis at first singles for the ‘Dogs; 6-2, 6-0. It may have taken three sets but Stull defeated Clear Fork’s Zara Thomas; 6-2, 4-6, 6-4. There was a forfeit at third singles for this match.

Mosier and Cultice paired up at first singles to defeat Lauren Melott and Alysia Miller; 6-4, 8-6. At second singles, Desi Hunt and Jeri-ka Cassady were defeated by the Colts’ Tymber Hetsler and Alexis Salyers; 1-6, 2-6.

Galion 5 Crestline 0

GALION — Both the Galion Lady Tigers and the Crestline Lady Bulldogs were set to compete in the annual Ontario Tennis Invite on Saturday, August 12 but due to weather, the event was canceled.

So, instead of the multi-team invitational, the ‘Dogs met up with the Tigers at Heise Park for a one-on-one match-up. Galion was victorious in the first match for either team, winning 5-0.

Jeffrey met up with Galion’s Kayley Gimbel at first singles and was defeated; 6-0, 6-0. Stull played at second singles for the Bulldogs and drew the Tigers’ Katherine Talbott. Stull would drop the contest; 1-6, 0-6. At third singles, Forwith was handed a loss off of the racket of Jalyn Oswald; 0-6, 0-6.

Mosier and Tesso met up with the Galion duo of Danielle Schneider and Kiersten Gifford. The Lady Tigers duo defeated the Crestline tandem; 6-0, 6-0. Cultice and Hunt teamed up at second singles and were defeated by the pair of Katie Baughn and Ellie Chandler; 3-6, 3-6.
