Galion golfers continue hot start

GALION — The Galion Tigers golf team is now 3-0 overall and in the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference after defeating the River Valley Vikings on Tuesday afternoon; 157-192.

Leading the Tigers on their home course was Jack McElligott, firing a match low 37. The duo of freshman, Matthew McMullen and Spencer Keller both finished the contest with a score of 39. Kaleb Harsh finished up the Galion scoring with a 42. Matt Kingseed (47) and Mitch Dyer (48) had the drop scores for the home squad.

Galion’s junior varsity squad also defeated the Vikings; 210-262.

Jacob Lear led the way with a 47 and Alec Dicus finished at 52. Bronson Dalenberg (54) and Tyler Kruger (57) rounded out the scoring for the Tigers. Aaron Stewart finished at 58 and Justin Schneider at 63 were the Galion drop scores.

“We played really well for the most part tonight in the heat,” states coach Bryce Lehman. “Jack, Spencer and Matty had scores under 40 which was great to see and Kaleb had a great round tonight considering he had three rough holes in the middle of his round. “

The season marches on for Lehman and his Tigers on Wednesday when the varsity squad travels to OakHaven to meet up in a MOAC clash with the Buckeye Valley Barons. The jayvee squad will be at Cranberry Hills to meet up with Buckeye Central on Thursday. On Friday, the squads will head to Twin Lakes to face-off with the Tygers from Mansfield Senior.
