Eagles drop conference opener to Royals

BUCYRUS — Colonel Crawford’s golf team made the short trip to The Golf Club of Bucyrus on Tuesday afternoon to meet up with fellow Northern-10 Athletic Conference member, the Wynford Royals.

The conference opener for Crawford didn’t go according to plan as they dropped the match with Wynford; 179-192. With the loss, the Eagles drop to 0-3 in duals this season and are now 0-1 in the early N-10 season.

Eli Shultz was once again the low scorer for the Eagles, shooting a nine-hole score of 46 on the day. Behind him were Andrew Daubenspeck (48), Gavin Feitchner (49) and AJ Johnson (49). The two drop scores for Colonel Crawford were a 58 by Andy Brause and a 60 from Marcus Fagan.

Medalist for the match was Wynford’s Logan Sands with a 43 and Caleb Keagan, also with a 43. Josh Crall (45) and Mitchel Zaebst (48) rounded out the Royals’ kept scores while Kyle Koons delivered a 54 and Aden Caldwell shot a 58.

The 2017 season will carry on for the Eagles on Wednesday when they travel to Cardington to meet up with the Pirates. On Thursday, Crawford will host the Mohawk Warriors in N-10 action.
