All-Crawford County sports accolades announced

BUCYRUS — The North Central Ohio Media Group, consisting of WBCO, WQEL and Crawford County Now and Spreng Capital Management held their awards banquet Tuesday May 30 to honor the spring sports All-County All-Stars.

Area tracksters that were honored were: Marisa Gwinner, Bri Streib, Kerrigan Myers and Colin McCullough from Galion, Anna Reffey, Kirsten Vehrs and Chad Johnson from Colonel Crawford.

Colby Bright and Todd Roston from the Galion coaching staff won Coaches of the Year for both girls and boys track.

Nic Oehler, Matt Sparks, Max Papenhausen and Tyler Harris took home all-star honors for boys tennis with their head coach, Tom Pawsey, winning Coach of the Year.

Baseball players earning all-star nods for the area were: Garrett Kuns and Ryan Talbott from Galion and JR Wolfe from the Crestline squad.

Phil Jackson, head coach of the Galion Tigers, was presented with Coach of the Year honors.

Gabby Kaple from Galion, Sarah Toy from Crestline and Alexus Burkhart and Sydney Studer from Colonel Crawford received awards for their play on the softball diamond. Chuck Huggins, coach of the Lady Eagles took home the Coach of the Year award.

Congratulations to all area players and coaches on a great season and their All-County All-Star honors!
