Bulldogs earn one-hit victory

MANSFIELD — Although the postseason has reached its conclusion for the Crestline Bulldogs baseball team, a few Mid-Buckeye Conference games remained.

One of those games took place on Saturday May 13 in Mansfield against the Flames from Mansfield Christian. The Bulldogs would cruise to a 15-0 victory, lead by the pitching of JR Wolfe.

Wolfe struck out 10 and walked just two in the win and knocked a single and a double at the plate to aide in his cause. Crestline also got a single and a double from Kaden Ronk on the day and Chandler Gaskill also recorded a double.

The Bulldogs scored their 15 runs on 11 hits and committed just one error. Mansfield Christian was shutout while only mustering one hit against Wolfe. The Flames committed nine errors on the day.

Crestline’s season will final reach its end on Wednesday May 17 when they host the Danville Blue Devils in MBC play.

Lady ‘Dogs rout Flames

MANSFIELD — On Saturday May 13, the Crestline Lady Bulldogs were also in Mansfield to take on the Lady Flames. Crestline had no issues with their MBC foe, winning the contest by a final of 12-3.

Madison Huber had quite the day at the plate for the ‘Dogs. Huber belted two singles, a double and a homerun in the win to go along with five runs batted in, two stolen bases and four runs scored.

Dennesa Baker was also dangerous at the plate, knocking two doubles and two singles, driving in two runs and scoring two as well.

Courtney Swanger, Desiree Naveja and Sydney Weisman all had multi-hit days for Crestline. Swanger had a single, a double and scored three runs. Naveja delivered a pair of singles, drove in a run and scored once. Weisman also belted a pair of singles to go with a triple and recorded an RBI.

Sarah Toy had a single, a stolen base and an RBI and Michaela Jeffrey scored a run for the Lady Bulldogs.

Lydia Tadda pitched three innings, striking out three and allowed just two hits. Katelyn Stull allowed four hits, three runs (two earned), walked one and struck out five in relief.

Crestline still has one conferene makeup game remaining against Danville but a time and date has not yet been set. The Bulldogs will be in action on Tuesday May 16 when they faceoff against another conference foe, the Lucas Lady Cubs, in district semi-finals action. The two teams will clash at Shelby High School at 4 pm.
