GALION — The Madison Rams were in Galion on Monday for a non-league meeting with the Tigers.

It took nine innings for the Rams to win, 2-1. The two teams combined for 11 hits in the contest (Madison, 6l Galion 5), all singles.

With the loss, Galion drops to 14-9.

Mac Spears suffered the loss for Galion. He worked the final five innings in relief and allowed the eventual winning run in the top half of the ninth. Spears allowed just three hits and the one earned run while walking two and striking out three. Garrett Kuns was the starter for Galion, going four innings, allowing three hits, an earned run and striking out two.

Spears and Kuns would each have a hit on the day and Kuns recorded the lone Galion RBI when he drove in Mitch Dyer in the bottom of the fifth. Ryan Talbott, Ryan Utz and Will Donahue belted the other singles for the Tigers but did not score as Galion stranded 11 total base runners on the day.

The Tigers will be back in action on Friday May 12 to begin their postseason run. Galion will play host to the Western Reserve Roughriders in the Division III sectional final game. Action between the No. 3 seeded Tigers and the No. 7 seeded Roughriders is set to begin at 5 pm.
